SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — After several students had their visas revoked at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the same is happening at the University's Springfield campus.

In an online letter sent by the university, Chancellor Janet Gooch said the UIS International Student Services team has found that multiple students and recent graduates have lost their F-1 visas.

The letter says that many of these students are not being notified of the revocations.

Gooch said that the International Student Services staff has reached out to the affected students "to share resources for immediate next steps, such as contacting an immigration attorney."

"I understand the severity of this news and how unsettling it may be for those affected and their loved ones," she wrote.

The University has resources about immigration and visa statuses available for students.
