DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Police Department announced the launch of a mapping tool to provide the community with more access to police activity.

Decatur police said that Citizen Connect will combine with the Central Illinois Regional Dispatch Center's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to let residents explore the activity by date, type and location through an interactive map.

It will replace the now inactive DPDConnect website.

The platform will allow users to do the following, according to Decatur police:

  • View service calls and cases within a selected date range
  • Filter by service types and categories
  • Explore police activity geographically
  • Access general details about various calls
  • Traffic crash reports

DPD stated that exact addresses won't be shown for privacy reasons, and precise locations will not be shown to protect residents, police and active scenes.

Additionally, specific types of calls and cases will not be displayed due to sensitivity concerns.

Citizen Connect can be accessed through the City of Decatur's website.
