DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A new scholarship is now available for high school seniors in Decatur who have a passion for writing.
Lindsey’s Literary Scholarship was created by author and poet Anastasia Lindsey in honor of her late grandfather, aiming to support young writers who use storytelling as a form of self-expression and healing.
The $500 award is open to seniors at Decatur-area high schools who have been accepted to a college and plan to attend in fall 2026. Applicants must submit original writing along with a short personal response.
Submissions are accepted through April 1 or until 50 applications are received. The recipient will be announced in May, with funds distributed directly to the student’s school in August.
Organizers say the scholarship focuses on authenticity and emotional honesty rather than grades or test scores.
