FORSYTH, Ill. (WAND) - Sunshine Supplies for Teachers will host several supply drives in July, helping teachers stock up on materials ahead of the school year.
Supply drives will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on July 13, 16, 20, 23 and 27 at Hickory Point Mall in Forsyth.Â
The group is collecting everyday classroom essentials, including disinfectant wipes, loose-leaf paper and backpacks.
Sunshine Supplies Executive Director Crystal Hoadley said it's often hard for teachers to pay for supplies, and students need more than what they're getting.
"If you ask any educators, they're gonna tell you that they're spending money out of their own pocket. Our school districts cannot cover everything that a child needs to be educated from K through 12," Hoadley said.
