ROCHESTER, Ill. (WAND) - The Rochester school board is considering serious cuts to balance its budget.
In January, district leaders announced just over $3 million in cuts as part of a deficit reduction plan.
Teachers and parents spoke out during a community forum on Tuesday night, sharing their concerns about the cuts.
Some staff even proposed their own creative ideas to save the district money.
"The educators and students are the heart and soul of our district. Our children need to know we love them and feel like we have the time for them," said one staff member.
The district is set to vote on the proposed plan during its next meeting on Feb. 18.
