CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A 17-year-old was killed and a 19-year-old injured in a shooting in Champaign Monday night.Â
Champaign police were called to the 800 block of S. Mattis Ave. around 6:45 p.m. for a call of shots fired.Â
Officers found a 17-year-old Champaign boy with multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds inside a vehicle in a parking lot.Â
Emergency responders began providing aid until the victim could be taken to the hospital, but he died a short time later.Â
The coroner has identified the teen as Tariq Porter of Champaign.Â
At about 7 p.m., Champaign police were notified that a second person had arrived by personal transport at the emergency department with a gunshot wound. That person, a 19-year-old man from Champaign, remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Champaign police are working to determine the facts of this case. No arrests have been made. Champaign police ask that anyone who has additional information call 217-351-4545.
