CHARLESTON, Ill. (WAND) - Hundreds of international students at universities across the U.S. have been faced with challenges as they navigate the latest changes in President Trump's immigration policies.
Numerous schools have been alerting students there are no guarantees they will be able to return to the states should they choose to travel abroad.
Among the colleges feeling the effects is Eastern Illinois University, who today addressed concerns from their student body.
"EIU can confirm students have been impacted," the school said in a statement to WAND News. "Citing the myriad sensitivities involved, the University is unable to provide a precise number. ElU offers a variety of academic, mental health, and legal services to every student - including those potentially impacted."
It comes just weeks after the University of Illinois reported several students having their visas revoked amidst the White House's crackdown on immigration.
At least 901 students at more than 128 colleges and universities have had their visas revoked or their legal status terminated in recent weeks, according to an Associated Press review of university statements and correspondence with school officials.
