DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Thousands of customers across Central Illinois lost power Monday morning as strong and severe storms raced across the state. 

At its peak, around 7,500 customers were without power across several counties. Sangamon, Moultrie, and Champaign counties reported the largest outages. 

As of 2:15 p.m. power had been restored to most. In Sangamon County, fewer than 500 were without electricity. In Champaign County, the outages were less than 20. 

Statewide, around 28,000 customers were without power.

A line of strong and severe storms moved through the area Monday morning, at times with wind gusts over 50 miles per hour, hail, and heavy rain. 

Severe weather was forecasted for Monday, including hail, strong winds and tornadoes.
