DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A local soup kitchen is already preparing to help the homeless this winter.
Elim House, located at 829 N. Water St., is working on a winter relief backpack program. Backpacks will contain items for hygiene, warmth, and shelter, and will be handed out to homeless individuals this winter.
A donation drive will be held at the Water Street location on August 25. The organization is seeking backpacks, coats, sleeping bags, and 1-2 person tents.
