DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – Millions of dollars poured into the Decatur area economy during and before the start of the Farm Progress Show. Smaller Decatur businesses were also the beneficiaries of seeing the thousands of people who came to town for the show.
121 Coffee Run, which has shops in Warrensburg, Decatur and Harristown, set up right near the front gate. Manager Josh House told WAND News people would come through the gates and go straight to their location for a morning fix of coffee. He estimated that by the end of the show, his sales would include about 1,500 drinks.
Gaitros Aviation, LLC, provided service and fuel to aircraft coming to Decatur for the Farm Progress Show. Owner Will Gaitros said it gave people flying into Decatur the chance to see the airport and possibly get repeat business in the future.
Teri Hammel, of the Decatur Convention & Visitors Bureau, pointed to the significance of having such a large show in the community. People spend money during the three days on hotels, gas, restaurant meals and other items, while show exhibitors and dealers dropped money on large ticket items at places like Menard’s and Lowe’s before the show opened.
The Farm Progress Show will be in Boone, Iowa, in 2026, and will return to Decatur in 2027.
