WARRENSBURG, Ill. (WAND) — The federal funding freeze has temporarily put some infrastructure projects in the village of Warrensburg on ice.

Warrensburg has three major projects it would like to see funded, but are on hold due to the turmoil in Washington. The combined cost for those projects is $6.1 million.
“There’s wants and needs, and these are needs,” Mayor Leland Hackl told WAND News. “This isn’t a want to do this, I want to do that — we need to do this.”
Warrensburg needs new water mains for a section of town where the lines were initially installed from the 1930s through the 1960s.
Rusting pipes need to be replaced at the sewer plant. The mayor said they will also need to replace the whole infrastructure at the sewer plant. The structure was completed around 1975.
One of the water towers in the village is aging and needs repairs. The 40,000 gallon tower repair costs are around $785,000.
Mayor Hackl said he hopes to have federal funding by May. He anticipates it will take up to a year and a half to complete all of the work.
