MAROA, Ill. (WAND) - Firefighters worked quickly to make sure a barn fire in Maroa did not spread to a nearby house.Â
The Maroa Fire Department was called out at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday to a barn fire on Wise Road.Â
Due to the amount of smoke visible from town and the rural location of the fire, a second alarm was requested shortly after the initial call out.Â
Firefighters feared the nearby home may also be involved in the fire, and a third alarm was requested. Crews from eight additional fire departments from the surrounding area were called in to help.Â
Once they arrived, firefighters found the barn completely engulfed in flames. The fire had not spread to the home.Â
Crews were able to get the fire put out and clear the scene a little after 4 p.m.Â
