MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) — A Mattoon High School employee who was facing sexual assault charges from 2017 has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Jace Logan of Mattoon was previously a paraprofessional at the school.

The Sullivan Police Department charged him with five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving a teenage girl who was at least five years younger than Logan at the time. Logan would have been 18 at the time of alleged crimes. "These charges stem from an extensive investigation by the Sullivan Police Department that was reported April 2024, of an incident that was alleged to have occurred in 2017 in Sullivan, Illinois located in Moultrie County," Sullivan police said.

The case was turned over to the State's Attorney's Appellate Prosecutor Office for Illinois review.

In court, Logan agreed to plead guilty to indecent solicitation of a child. Five other charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement. Logan was sentenced to 30 month probation and fined $75.
