Former teacher sentenced to jail, probation for child porn

SULLIVAN, Ill. (WAND) — A former 6th grade teacher arrested for possession of child pornography was sentenced to 180 days in jail and probation.

Christopher D. Davis, a 38-year-old from Sullivan, was arrested by Illinois State Police in August 2024 after the agency received a cyber tip.

On Tuesday, Davis entered a plea agreement to a child pornography charge. His other five charges were dismissed. As part of the agreement, Davis will spend 180 days in jail, with seven days credit for time served, and will serve four years of probation. He is also day-to-day eligible as part of his plea agreement.

In 2024, a tip to ISP revealed suspicious activity linked to a Yahoo account that belonged to Davis. Multiple images of child porn were found within the account.

Davis was a 6th grade teacher at Lovington Grade School. ISP said no local minors have appeared in the abuse images, and that all the images appear to come from the internet.
