SULLIVAN, Ill. (WAND) - Moultrie County first responders will take part in a full-scale Active Threat Response training exercise on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
The exercise will begin around 1:00 p.m. at the Hydro-Gear facility, located at 1411 South Hamilton Street in Sullivan.
The event is a cooperative effort between Moultrie County First Responders and Hydro-Gear, designed to test the emergency response capabilities of local law enforcement, EMS, and command staff.
According to Sullivan PD, the exercise provides an important opportunity for first responders to train in a realistic, simulated environment, allowing teams to evaluate strengths and identify areas for improvement in their coordinated response efforts.
During the training, residents may notice increased emergency activity, including sirens, alarms, and emergency vehicles in the area. Authorities emphasize this is only a training exercise, and there is no actual threat to the public.
Access to the Hydro-Gear facility and nearby traffic routes may be temporarily restricted or diverted for safety reasons during the event.
Organizers thank the community for their cooperation and understanding as local agencies work to enhance preparedness and public safety.
