A 16-year-old girl died in an early morning crash in Cumberland County Friday.
Illinois State Police say the girl, who has not been identified, was thrown from a car during a crash on Cumberland Co. road 900N at its intersection with 2275 East west of Casey.
It happened at about 12:25am Friday.
The teen, who is from Robinson, was the passenger in a 2003 Mercury Mariner, when the small SUV hit a patch of loose gravel. Police say the driver, Shelby Spalding, 22 of Hidalgo, overcorrected causing the car to roll and end up on it's side.
Hidalgo was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham, though the extent of her injuries was not known as of Friday morning. She is facing a charge of Improper Lane Usage.
