(WAND) — Payments from one of several class action lawsuits against Facebook have started hitting payment apps and banks accounts Thursday.

The payouts stem from a lawsuit regarding Facebook's internet tracking:

"If you are a person who, between April 22, 2010 and September 26, 2011, inclusive, were a Facebook User in the United States who visited non-Facebook websites that displayed the Facebook Like button, you may be eligible for a payment from a Class Action Settlement."

According to the suit, Facebook improperly obtained and collected data from users even when they were using sites other than Facebook.

The deadline to submit a claim passed in September of 2022, so many users forgot about the suit.

The claims administrator said Facebook "denies that it violated any law but has agreed to the Settlement to avoid the costs and risks associated with continuing this case."

Most users have received around $40.
