SULLIVAN, Ill. (WAND) — A former Moultrie County board member and township supervisor arrested for possessing child pornography pleaded guilty in court Friday.
According to court records, 60-year-old Scott L. Buxton pleaded guilty to one count of reproducing child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. The count of possession was amended, according to court records, but it is not clear what or why it was amended.
The court appearance was initially set to be the last hearing before the case went to trial, after Buxton originally pleaded not guilty in December.
As part of the guilty plea, four other counts were dismissed.Â
Buxton turned himself in to the Moultrie County Sheriff's Office in June following an Illinois State Police investigation that found several images depicting child porn among his accounts.
He had served on the Moultrie County Board since December 2022, and was elected as the Marrowbone Township Supervisor in April 2025.
Buxton is scheduled to appear in court on August 21 for sentencing.
