3 children, 2 adults dead after school bus and semi crash in western Illinois

WASHINGTON (WAND) — The National Transportation Safety Board has released a comprehensive report detailing the crash that killed three children and two adults in Rushville last March.

The crash happened mid-morning March 11, 2024. A school bus with three children between the ages of 3 and 5 aboard was traveling along a right-hand curve when it crossed the center line and collided head on with a semi loaded with sand.

Both vehicles were thrown into a ditch where they caught fire. The two drivers and three children were all killed in the crash.

Over 60 documents were compiled in the crash investigation, including the bus driver's training record, phone and text logs, and interviews with first responders. The full report can be found here.
