Macon County - A tragic start to this 4th of July Holiday Weekend as a 16-year-old football player's life was cut short in a single car accident. The Macon County Coroner says 16-year-old Nicolas England of Maroa died Friday night after a single car crash on Schellabarger Road. According to deputies reports England was driving West on Schellabarger when he hit a guard rail.

On Saturday England's team mates and coach visited the crash scene to set up a memorial with flowers and a cross. "He was a great young man and the Trojan Football Team is sure going to miss him," Maroa-Forsyth football coach Josh Jostes shared, "The Maroa-Forsyth community is for sure. Just a tragic, tragic loss for all of us."

The coroner reports that England died from massive injuries to his head and torso.
