Decatur, Ill (WAND) – Sales are up, lines are longer and people are looking for a little luck as the Mega Millions jackpot hit $1.22 billion by mid-afternoon on Friday.
“They’re buying the lottery. The Mega bucks. The big jackpot,” Amar Lotey, owner of the Marathon gas station on Pershing Road in Decatur, told WAND News.
“They don’t even know the name of the game. They say the one that is way up there. I’m like okay, I know what you’re talking about. Yes, yes that’s funny, yes."
The jackpot has been rolling over since September 13, 2024. There are 7,000 retail locations selling Mega Millions tickets across the state of Illinois.
