ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (WAND) - A huge snake was spotted along an Indiana hiking trail.

People visiting Zionsville Park came across an eastern rat snake in the trees.

Adult rat snakes usually grow to 3 to 5 feet, but larger ones may reach more than 6 feet long.

Rat snakes are predators to mice and rats and help keep local habitats healthy. They will also eat squirrels, chipmunks, birds, and bird eggs.

They are not venomous snakes.
