SAVOY, Ill. (WAND) — With race weekend slowly approaching, race officials were excited to announce new changes coming this year.
"We were very happy that Savoy was approached to be part of the marathon. This has always been considered a community event, and by including Savoy in the marathon it truly does make it a community event," said Village President, John Brown.
The race is also reinstating its marathon distance which hasn't happened since 2019 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Brown says local businesses and schools are also getting involved to help show people how excited they are to visit the village.
"Industrial Donuts, for example, is going to have a banner that we're going to have kids come in next week and help design that and have that along the race route," said Brown.
