URBANA, Ill. (WAND) — Five people were arrested after an 18-year-old woman was shot in Urbana Tuesday night.

The Urbana Police Department said officers responded to the 1200 block of Brookstone Court just after 11 p.m. for reports of gunshots. Police found around 30 spent shell casings at the scene.

A short time later, an 18-year-old woman who had been shot walked into a local hospital. Officers determined that she had been shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Brookstone Court. Urbana police said her current condition will not be released at this time.

Urbana Police Department detectives executed several search warrants as the investigation continued, recovering four guns. One of the guns had an illegal "switch" attachment, which makes a semi-automatic pistol fully automatic.

According to police, the investigation, which included foot pursuits, led to five people being arrested.

20-year-old Issaiah Tapscott, 19-year-old Martell Johnson, 19-year-old Joel Hayes and 18-year-old Brendon Brown were arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a machine gun and resisting arrest. A 17-year-old was also arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of a machine gun.
