SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Scheels Sports Park in Springfield is officially open after developers hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Legacy Pointe on Tuesday.
The 70-acre multisport park is just north of the I-72 interchange.
There are indoor and outdoor sections, including baseball, softball and soccer fields.
Governor JB Pritzker said the park is great for Springfield and young athletes.
"It's good for the community, it's good for generating economic growth. But most of all, it's great for the kids who get to compete and work together, and enjoy each other's company and have a lot of fun," Pritzker said.
The complex also features the largest sports dome in the world.
