SHELBYVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — First responders found the body of a missing boater in Lake Shelbyville Saturday morning.
Police identified the missing boater as Billy Briscoe of Hidalgo, Illinois.
According to the Moultrie County Sheriff's Office, officers were sent to the Coal Shaft Bridge area of Lake Shelbyville just after 11 a.m. for reports of an empty boat.
Police called in a dive team to find the missing boater, and divers recovered Briscoe's body at 9:16 p.m. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities are still investigating the drowning.
