CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) — The Champaign County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in an ongoing investigation into the 1985 death of Dr. Barbara Bremer.Â
According to the sheriff's office, Bremer was reported missing to the Champaign Police Department on September 20, 1985 by her coworkers at the Carle Clinic. She was last seen by her neighbor leaving her home on a bicycle on the evening of September 19.
Days later on September 24, police got a call from someone reporting finding a bike and human legs in a cornfield. Officers responded and found Bremer's body and bicycle.
An autopsy determined that Bremer sustained several traumatic injuries to her jaw, neck and chest. Several articles of clothing had also been removed.Â
The case is still unsolved, and the sheriff's office is still actively reviewing evidence in hopes of bringing justice to Bremer and closure to her family.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Champaign County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division at 217-384-1213.
