City of Decatur extends storm cleanup assistance after weekend storms

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The City of Decatur is extending community-wide cleanup assistance after strong weekend storms left behind tree limbs and other debris.

City crews are not allowed to enter private property, so residents who want help with removal must place tree limbs and other storm debris at the curb by Thursday, July 9.

Residents must submit a cleanup request before July 9, when Decatur Public Works crews are scheduled to begin pickup.

The city is also asking drivers not to park in front of debris piles, as crews will not be able to access them.

Only tree and storm debris should be placed in the piles. Paper landscape bags, household garbage and building materials will not be collected with tree debris.

All debris piles must be placed at the curb for pickup.
