DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Decatur resident who died after being hit by an SUV Friday night has been identified.
According to the Decatur Police Department, officers responded to the 400 block of West Grand Avenue just before 9 p.m.
Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that an SUV was driving on West Grand Avenue when it hit a 60-year-old Decatur resident, identified by the Macon County Coroner as Michael Freeman, who was in the road.Â
Freeman was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The driver of the SUV was not hurt, and DPD said they were not impaired.
The incident is still under investigation.
