FORSYTH, Ill. (WAND) — The inaugural Decatur BBQ Brawl is set to bring barbecue, music and community fundraising to Forsyth in September.
The community event will bring together BBQ teams for a blind tasting competition benefiting Webster Cantrell Youth Advocacy Center. Attendees will sample competition barbecue and help determine the winners.
The event will be on September 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Coziahr Harley-Davidson.
There will be live music performed by Hat Trick, local vendors and beer service from Mueller Distributing.
Ribs turn-in is at 1 p.m., pulled pork turn-in is at 1:30 p.m., and brisket turn-in is at 2 p.m. Voting will be finalized after the last turn-in, with winners announced around 2:30-3 p.m.
Advance tasting tickets are $25, with day-of admission priced at $30. Advance-ticket processing is being coordinated through Coziahr Harley-Davidson.
Organizers are still accepting more BBQ competition teams, with a $100 team entry fee. The registration deadline is September 4. Inquiries can be emailed to DecaturBBQBrawl@gmail.com.
