DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Park Board of Commissioners announced Wednesday that it has selected Jim Underwood as commissioner.Â
The Decatur Park District said Underwood will fill the remainder of former longtime commissioner Bob Brilley's term, which expires in April.Â
Brilley died in July and had served the community for 17 years.Â
Underwood previously served as executive director of the Illinois Capital Development Board and chief procurement officer for the Illinois State Treasurer's Office.Â
According to the Decatur Park District, he also served as an elected trustee with the Maroa Township and Richland Community College.Â
"I look forward to bringing my experience in public governance, fiscal oversight and capital project management to the Board and working with my fellow Commissioners and Park District staff to continue providing outstanding parks, programs and services for our community," Underwood said in a press release.Â
Underwood will be sworn in at the Sept. 2 board meeting.Â
