DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Former Decatur Park District Commissioner Bob Brilley died Saturday, according to the Park District.
The district announced Brilley’s death Wednesday in a social media post. He was elected in 2009 and served the Decatur community for 17 years.
According to the Park District, Brilley’s commitment went far beyond his official duties. The district's post highlighted how he saw each employee as family and showed up in countless ways, whether standing quietly in the background at events, advocating for facility improvements or supporting staff well-being.
“His pride in the work being done throughout our parks was evident and inspiring,” the district stated.
The Park District described Brilley as more than a commissioner, calling him a steadfast pillar in the district’s history. Officials said his unwavering support and genuine care helped shape many pivotal moments that benefited the community for years.
