(WAND) - An appeals court ruled that a lawsuit against an Iroquois County hospital can move forward.
According to the court documents filed in the Appellate Court of Illinois Third District, Holly White had arrived at Iroquois Memorial Hospital's emergency room on May 2, 2018, complaining about severe abdominal pain.Â
The lawsuit claimed that doctors, who assisted in White's transfer to Riverside in Kankakee, were negligent by not sharing correct details about her care.Â
The documents stated that White was then found unresponsive on the floor of her hospital room May 4, 2018. Doctors performed emergency surgery, where a "large portion" of her small intestines was removed.Â
White suffered cardiac arrest and died two days later.Â
An appeals court overturned a previous ruling in favor of the hospital systems.Â
