DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The countdown has started to the 170th annual Macon County Fair.
The fair, which will be from May 31 to June 7, will feature carnival rides, food and commercial vendors, livestock shows, harness racing and grandstand events.
New this year is the opportunity for visitors to show of skills in potted house plants, cut flowers, corn, soybeans, oats seeds, as well as culinary items such as breads, rolls, muffins, pies, cakes, brownies, canned vegetables, jams, marmalades and more. People can enter the items for a chance to win a ribbon and money.
"We continue to improve and bring new events to the Macon County Fair each year so that everyone can enjoy it while becoming more familiar with agriculture and the vital role it plays in everyone's lives," Fair President Evan Hall said.
The fair will be at the Macon County Fairgrounds at 3700 North Westlawn Avenue in Decatur. Gate admission is $5 per person and free for kids under 4.
