BEMENT, Ill. (WAND) — A Piatt County elementary school will cut the ribbon on a new book vending machine next week.
Bement Elementary School will celebrate the arrival of its new, custom-built book vending machine with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The school said the machine is designed to encourage a love of reading by allowing students to select and receive their own books as rewards for positive behavior, academic achievement, and other milestones.
The machine and the books inside it are being provided with a grant by the Heart of Illinois Community Foundation.
The ribbon-cutting event will feature a short program, the official ribbon cutting, and the first opportunity for students to get books from the machine.
Community members are invited to attend and celebrate the moment. The ceremony will be held at the school on Wednesday, March 18 at 9:30 a.m.
