Person killed in Edgar County crash identified

EDGAR COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) — A person who was killed after a two-vehicle crash in Edgar County Saturday afternoon has been identified.

According to the Edgar County Coroner's Office, the crash happened just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Shiloh and Horace-Brocton Roads.

Several emergency crews responded, including medical helicopters.

The Edgar County coroner said a vehicle with four occupants was going south on Edgar County 11 (Shiloh Road) and failed to stop at a stop sign.

It hit another vehicle with a single occupant that was traveling westbound on Edgar County 8 (Horace - Brocton Road), causing it to roll over and land on its roof.

Michelle Vance, 55, of Murdock, Illinois was pronounced dead at the hospital.

All other occupants of the vehicles were transported from the scene for medical treatment with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Edgar County Sheriff’s department and the Edgar County Coroner.
