DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Macon County Highway Department announces several road closures as summer constructions projects begin.Â
Weather permitting, traffic will be switched to the new roadway and bridges on County Highway 24 (Reas Bridge Road) across Lake Decatur on Friday, May 30.
County Highway 24 roads and bridges will be closed to traffic starting at 8:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, until 2:30 p.m. to allow for relocation of concrete barriers and adjustment to the temporary traffic control.
Starting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 30, County Highway 23 (Sangamon Road) will be completely closed to traffic from Reas Bridge Road to north of Izaak Walton Campground.
This closure is necessary to realign County Highway 23 with County Highway 24 and is expected to remain in effect for the entire year.
Also starting at 8:30 a.m. on May 30, Angle Crossing Road, Kitchen Road, and Norfolk Road will be open only to local traffic.
Residents and businesses will still have access to County Highway 23, Angle Crossing Road, Kitchen Road, and Norfolk Road. This local traffic restriction will last until the end of 2025.
Motorists should take the detour on Illinois Route 105, County Highway 25 (Oakley Road), and County Highway 24 (Cerro Gordo Blacktop/Stare Road/Reas Bridge Road) due to the County Highway 23 is closed.
