DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 5 is investigating the death of a Decatur man found dead in 2023 and is asking the public for help.
On May 19, 2023, 51-year-old James E. Taylor was found dead in a rural area near his home in the 5700 Block of North Country Club Road. He was reported missing on May 12, 2023, to the Decatur Police Department and was last seen alive on May 10, 2023, at about 6 p.m.
An autopsy showed that his cause of death was due to gunshot trauma. ISP agents are investigating the death as a homicide.
Decatur Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,500.00 for information regarding Taylor’s death.
