LACON, Ill. (WAND) — Chain saws, power equipment and generators could be heard all across the small town of Lacon Tuesday as clean-up got underway after a powerful storm blew through Monday evening.

Large trees were uprooted. Some falling on power lines and others falling on homes and cars. Tree removal services, including Sky’s the Limit Tree Service in Decatur, were busy removing trees from homes so power company workers could get in to restore electricity.

One large tree with deep roots even tore a hole in the asphalt pavement in front of one home. Another tree fell crushed a Toyota that a Lacon woman had rented while her car is being repaired.

Crews are expected to be on the scene for several days to restore power and remove trees from homes and businesses.
