DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A Decatur paramedic has received national recognition for her work in the profession.
Stars of Life will honor Megan Overbeck this weekend in Washington D.C.
Overbeck is a paramedic for Abbott EMS in Decatur. Stars of Life has recognized her for her dedication to the EMS profession. In 2023, she responded to 1,993 calls and transported 1,559 patients, averaging 5.5 calls per day.
During that period, she performed 3,942 procedures, which included 767 IVs, 165 12-leads, 8 intubations, and 2 needed decompressions.
Not only will Overbeck be recognized for her dedication to her career, but also for her compassion and care for patients. In 2023, she responded to 47 cardiac arrests, transported 27 patients, and achieved ROSC (Return of Spontaneous Circulation) in 13 cases, including 16 clinical saves.
Her success rate in cardiac arrests is 27.7% ROSC and 36.4% of all cardiac arrests her operation responded to.

The Stars of Life will recognize more than 100 paramedics and emergency health care professionals on Monday in Washington D.C.
