A local barber college is giving kids in need free haircuts this holiday season.
Brandon Lockhart, the Director for Lockhart Barber College, believes when students look their best, they feel their best, which is why he decided to give back.
This is the second year Lockhart Barber College is teaming up with Decatur Public Schools. More than 50 DPS students from kindergarten to high school got the chance to sit down and get a fresh, new hairdo.
"Last year, we actually did it before going back to school, and we did that again this year, as well. We're doing two efforts this year to try to help out. This year we decided we'd do it right before the holiday so everybody looks good for their holiday pictures and wherever they go, to see their grandma, to see their family, or their mom," says Lockhart.
Decatur Public Schools paid for half of the cost for the haircuts. Lockhart Barber College paid for the other half.
Lockhart says he hopes the DPS students also walked away with a sense of community.
