DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – After a cold winter, food trucks in Decatur are open for business once again. Many of them in various locations along Pershing Road.
Inflation continues to be a challenge for truck operators. Higher prices are impacting food supplies, electricity, propane, gas and insurance rates, to name a few.
"Produce, meat and vegetables,” said The Burrito Truck owner Ray Padry when asked about increasing costs. “It went up like 20% this year.”
Alonso Coronado, owner of Los Goldos, agreed.
“Yeah, you can see a big difference between the prices. Everything is going up now,” Coronado said.
Gryo King Owner Alex Chiligiris told WAND News he’s a little bit busier than this time last year, but prices continue to go up. One price spike is insurance coverage.
“Insurance goes up about every six months,” he said. “I would say $300 to $400 a year, my insurance goes up.”
