Dave Kreps orchestrated an unprecedented turnaround at Decatur Lutheran, from 3-24 in 2010-11 to a program-best 23-8 in 2012-13. That made him the ideal choice for athletic director Kurt Younghouse when Shannon Houser resigned this offseason.
"Dave is a strong leader and does a great job of getting the most out of his players," Younghouse said in a school release. "He is a master at the X's and O's and we cannot wait to see what he will do with our team."
Kreps previously has served on staffs at Industry, Effingham, Stephen Decatur, Maroa-Forsyth as well as Kaskaskia Community College, Northern Arizona and Illinois.
He is the father of current Maroa-Forsyth and Illinois-Chicago legend Robo Kreps, who is currently head coach of the Trojan program.
It was LSA's second coaching hire this offseason after Jay Dexter accepted the golf coaching position. Dexter has been a PGA pro for 25 years, with more than 20 coming of those coming in the Decatur area. LSA competes in a co-op with Argenta-Oreana.
