MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - Sheriff Jim Root officially announced he will be seeking a third term as Sheriff of Macon County.
Root has more than 29 years of law enforcement experience and has served as sheriff since 2021.
“It has been the honor of my life to serve as your sheriff,” Root said. “Together, we’ve made great strides in keeping our communities safe, improving response times, prioritizing training, and increasing transparency. But there’s still work to do — and I’m ready to continue that mission.”
Root emphasized that his campaign will focus on increasing recruitment and retention of qualified deputies, and further investing in programs that connect law enforcement with the community in positive ways.
“As sheriff, my duty is not just to enforce the law, but to serve every resident with fairness, respect, and commitment to justice,” Root said. “I’m asking for your support to continue this important work for a third term.”
