DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - All this week families will start picking out toys for their kids from Macon County Toys for Tots.
Thousands of toy donations were made by the community to Macon County Toys for Tots. The majority of the donations came from WAND's Spirit of Giving.
"We could not do this without the people being willing to be generous and donate toys," said Angie Williams, Dove Inc. Christmas Care and Share Coordinator.
This year 1,167 families signed up to receive holiday help from Toys for Tots. The number of sign-ups is a jump from last year, according to Williams.
"The cost of everything is going up, so families who weren't hurting last year are hurting this year," she said.
Macon County Toys for Tots said with the community's help, 3,100 children will have toys to unwrap this Christmas.
