DECATUR, Ill. (WAND)—Major roadwork will be underway in Decatur during the 2025 construction season as IDOT begins work on two north—and southbound roadways through the city's heart.
Water and Main Street, which are designated as Business Route 51, will undergo a significant overhaul. The northbound lanes will be reduced from four to three. A bike path will be added, and sewer and drainage work will be done.
The public can provide input into the project on October 16, 2024, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Main Street Church of the Living God, 2000 N. Main Street in Decatur. Representatives from the Illinois Department of Transportation will be on hand to answer questions.

The project will likely take about two years, with a nearly $20 million price tag.
