MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) - Mattoon Police have confirmed the deaths of a man and woman Sunday are being investigated as a murder suicide.

Mattoon Police Chief Sam Gaines told WAND News his officers were called to the 800 block of N. 34th St. around 9:15 a.m. after a family member found two people dead on the floor.

The Coles County Coroner identified them as Davontye M. Browder, 37, and Keisha L. Seeley, 34.

Chief Gaines said both had died of a single gunshot wound to the head. Gaines said they do believe they know which person was the one who committed the murder before turning the gun on themselves but said he could not release that information yet.

Gaines said Browder and Seeley were in a romantic relationship and both lived at the home. He said two children lived at the home as well, but he would not say whether they were home at the time of the shootings.

Chief Gaines said there had been previous calls to the home for altercations, including one recently, but that none of those altercations had proven to be physical, and no one had been arrested.
