The Macon County Coroner has released the name of the man who died in a Decatur house fire Saturday night.Â
79-year-old John McKinney was identified as the victim. An autopsy was done Sunday. It indicated probable carbon monoxide intoxication due to the inhalation of smoke and soot from the house fire.Â

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A house fire in Decatur has left one person dead.Â
According to the Decatur Fire Department on Saturday at 7:32 a.m. firefighters rushed to a home in the 1500 Block of Hunt St. for a report of a house fire and someone possibly inside.Â
When crews arrived, they found a heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the single-story home.Â
Firefighters quickly got to work to extinguish the flames.Â
According to the department, once the fire was extinguished crews found a man dead in the kitchen.Â
The Illinois State Fire Marshal, Decatur Police, and Macon County Coroner were called in to assist in the investigation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.Â
The Decatur Fire Department said no functional smoke detectors were heard or found.Â
The department reminds the community to check smoke detectors and change batteries if not 10 years sealed.Â
