PANA, Ill. (WAND) - The Christian County Coroner is identifying a man who was killed in a crash near Pana Friday. 

Coroner Amy Calvert Winans said 60-year-old Joseph E. Hicks of Pana was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. 

His cause of death was multiple blunt injuries due to the crash. Toxicology results are pending. 

Illinois State Police said the accident happened on October 11 around 9:30 p.m. just south of North 2200 East Road in Christian County.

According to police, the driver, a 42-year-old woman from Pana, was driving southbound on Illinois Route 29 south of North 2200 East Road. They said she left the roadway for "unknown reasons," hit a culvert, and her vehicle stopped in a nearby ditch. The woman was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Hicks' death investigation is being handled by the Illinois State Police and the Christian County Coroner's office.
