FARMER CITY, Ill. (WAND) – A man admitted to shooting another and will soon face prison time.
Michael Cummins, 18, shot another 18-year-old man during an argument on April 11 in Farmer City. The News-Gazette reports he saw the man on the other side of the road, went outside and shot at the man’s feet. As the victim ran from the area, Cummins fired two more shots and hit him in the stomach.Â
He entered a guilty plea on the week of Nov. 26.
The newspaper says DeWitt County Judge Karle Koritz recommended up to a maximum of 15 years in prison, even though the aggravated battery with a firearm charge Cummins faced normally carries a sentence between 6 and 30 years.
Cummins’ sentencing hearing is scheduled for Jan. 18, 2019.
